Da hat man nun Vieles, F. Schubert betreffend abfotografiert. Und doch – ist DAS Schubert? Weiss man nun, wer er ist bzw. war? So wie wenn man als Interpret alles im Notentext Vorkommende macht und dann kommt am Ende quasi als Resultat die Kunst heraus? Und kann das „ jeder”? Und schaut dann das Resultat bei allen gleich aus oder ist das doch bei allen verschieden, obwohl doch Alle das Gleiche machen? Das piano, das forte, alles was eben so im Notentext steht. Und alle Bücher über Schubert zusammen – ist DAS Schubert? Und wie ist das, wenn einer Nichts von all dem „weiss”, bloss einfach eine Melodie hört, die ihn fesselt, verfolgt und von der er nicht loskommt und in ihm etwas zum Klingen bringt, von dem er nicht weiss, was es ist, aber das so besonders ist, dass er es nicht in Worte fassen kann? Und dann, vielleicht erst später erfährt, dass das von Schubert ist?
Wenn man im Sterbezimmer von Schubert steht, ganz allein, dann weiss man, dass das Genie Schubert nicht erfassbar ist und nicht katalogisiert werden kann.
Der Mensch als Summe seiner Daten? Kommt einem doch recht simpel vor in diesem Moment. Sehr tröstlich. Hätte sich Schubert auch wohl nie träumen lassen, dass er einmal “Silicon Valley “und seine Allmacht relativiert.

Since I have photographed so many Schubert-related sites, the question of who Schubert really was gets even more complicated. The more one knows the more questions pop up. What a relief.
Listening to a simple tune of Schubert can unfold worlds of beauty and mystery. Magic is there for everybody who is capable of opening up to the unknown. There is no entrance fee to this world of mystery, not in terms of knowledge. Another big relief.
So the genius of Franz Schubert can’t be put into a box where only certain rules you have to follow permit you to take part in mysterious worlds.
Collect all the data you can get ahold of about Franz Schubert and then be certain that now you can tell who he really was and that THIS is the truth – much luck with that.
A little child, fascinated by one of Schubert’s tunes, without even knowing that this is his music, has a key to this mysterious world without even being aware of it.
Another big relief.
