Der Schauraum der „Angewandten“, Teil des Q21, liegt gleich hinter dem Cafe im Museumsquartier. Ein schmaler Gang mit verschiedenen Demonstrationen künstlerischer Fantasie. Visuell immer attraktiv, Manches erweckt Neugierde. Bereitgestellte “leaflets” geben Hintergrund Information – wenn man Genaueres erfahren will.
Im letzten Glascontainer ragt eine Hand mit einem Handy aus einer Badewanne. „Gefährlich”, ist mein erster Gedanke. Ich stelle meine Mineralwasser Flasche nieder und beginne zu fotografieren. Nach einer Weile kommt ein Mann und fragt mich: „Gehört die Wasserflasche auch zur Ausstellung?” Auf meine Verneinung hin meint er: „Gute Idee, sie dort zu platzieren. Wenigstens läuft niemand ins Bild, wenn Sie fotografieren”.
Ich schmunzle, wünsche ihm noch einen Guten tag und er geht.
Eine interessante Auseinandersetzung mit einem tool, das allgegenwärtig ist.
Aus dem Statement von Anna Vasof:”……..Mit meinem Telefon lerne ich, kämpfe ich, liebe ich und hoffe dazuzugehören. Letztendlich ist das alles, was zählt.”
Q21, a part of the Museum Quarter, houses a showroom of the University of Applied Arts.
On both sides of a narrow hallway, small spaces are sectioned off behind a glass wall. The space screams “creativity” if passing through it slowly. Leaflets in small boxes provide information about the artists and their work.
In the space at the end of the corridor I see an arm protruding from a bath tub. In its hand, a gadget which is omnipresent these days, a mobile phone.
Opposite of the bath tub, a TV screen shows various scenes of headless people taking selfies. With their own head now replacing their mobile, the individual all of a sudden has a “companion”, indispensable for their existence as a human being.
A statement by the artist Anna Vasof says:”….. Without my phone, I would be lost…. I would not know what to do. Through my phone, I learn, fight, love, and hope I belong…..”
Watching the show, a question pops up: “ Are people like the ones in this installation missing out on something?
Overall, a very intelligent show, worth visiting.
To take the photos, I put down my water bottle exactly in the middle of the narrow corridor. A passerby asked me whether the water bottle was part of the installation. My “No” made him smile. “At least nobody will be in your way, when you take pictures.” I wished him a great day and he left.
