Hungrig nach Kunst? Street Art – are you hungry?

The Danube Canal, an offshoot of the River Danube runs through the center of Vienna. In recent years it has become a very lively area. Walking, jogging, bicycling, a former ship transformed into a public swimming pool, a boat which takes you to Bratislava and many places for dining or just hanging out with friends – something will suit your needs there. Easy to reach by subway.
The city gave permission for artists to use this area to display their artwork to the public. The walls are covered with all kinds of images; some will make you smile, some not really. But it certainly is never boring.

On this very day two elderly ladies were watching the picture of the two fighting men. They absolutely liked it and I thought that this was great. Not far away an artist from Chile was working on a sculpture.
Two other pictures are especially eye catching. The artists express their very personal views about hunger in the world and problems caused by big companies like Monsanto. It is a strong message.
The first district on the other side of the canal is quite a different area. “Opposites attract” comes to mind. A very good saying indeed.
