Culture shock – Ein Kulturschock

    ————————

Two people sitting on a bench at Yppen Square in Vienna. A diverse area, which certainly has changed a lot. The woman with a headscarf is reading a newspaper, the man looks at a brochure. They might have immigrated many years ago and are “Austrian citizens” now. Originally from Turkey probably. The wall behind is full of graffiti with an eye-catching “culture shock” in bright orange. Can’t be overlooked. These two people – are they supposed to symbolize the “culture shock”? Do they understand the meaning of this phrase? And, if so – would they still sit right here and read? And the anonymous one who sprayed the “culture shock”, did he have people like these two in mind? And, if so and one knew him or could get hold of him, what is one supposed to do with him then?
