Prater – a recreational area

The “Prater”, a recreational area for bike rides, hiking and sports. Located next to an amusement park it offers a variety of places for eating outside. Fancy ones and the one I photographed. It serves horse meat, made by grinding the ingredients very finely and then baking it as a loaf in a bread pan until it has a crunchy brown crust (Wikipedia). In German it is called “Pferdeleberkaes” ,which would literally mean “liver cheese” made of horse meat – and it is very hard to translate. Please look up Wikipedia . Talking to the owner I was told that after a dry spell years ago it sells very well these days. And the meat is supposed to contain less fat than normal meat and should be healthy as well. 🙂
